Driver Safety Program

SCR sets many goals for itself each day but maintains client and employee SAFETY as a main priority. SCR has brought together a team of safety experts who dedicate their entire workday to developing and maintaining safety measures within the driving department.

SCR takes pride in its extensive initial driver training program that consists of 5 days of classroom training and 3 days of on-the-road training with a senior driver. The training consists of sensitivity training, driver Safety Training (Smith System), service area familiarity, radio communication, in addition to company and department procedures.

To ensure a safe operation daily, three driver coordinators are on stand-by during the morning hours and up to six coordinators in the evening to respond to any driver emergencies that involve vehicle maintenance or incident/accident emergencies.

SCR has a zero tolerance for unsafe driving. Therefore, safety personnel monitor on-the-road activity through top of the line in-vehicle camera equipment, software, and road supervisor observation. The in-vehicle cameras are automatically triggered by risky driving practices; all identified risky driving behavior is followed by official retraining/coaching based on the type of occurrence, and disciplinary action is taken when necessary.

SCR Commercial Drivers License Program
In accordance with the Illinois Secretary of State, SCR is a certified third party training facility for the Commercial Driver’s License. Our program employs professional and experienced instructors who prepare students to become safer and more qualified class-C (with Passenger Endorsement) drivers.

The five-day training program uses hands-on demonstrations and attention grabbing lectures to instill a positive attitude that builds self-confidence and enhances the driving abilities of each student. This is achieved through a sensible and theoretical approach to the general and specified knowledge as covered in the Secretary of State Commercial Driver’s License Instruction Manual.

SCR prides itself on exceeding the minimum standards set forth by the Illinois Secretary of State and consistently improves its training program by implementing creative and effective approaches to developing and re-training our drivers.
