SCR Medical Transportation specializes in providing medical transportation to various populations of health care and elderly communities. In 1986 Pamela and Stanley Rakestraw began a modest company that would grow to become the success that it is today. Their leadership and strong ambition to make a difference in the community would put together an exceptional team ready to take on any challenge.

This year SCR proudly celebrates its 20^th year anniversary in serving the community and building long lasting relationships not only with clients but also with their employees. Our dedicated personnel includes approximately 250 men and women, many who have worked for the company for over 10 years.

Employees are considered part of our extended family at SCR. We readily acknowledge the role that our employees have played in SCR’s success. In spite of the economic climate that has existed for several years, including the high cost of gasoline and insurance, which are essential to our business, SCR has not laid off any employees. In fact, the company managed to increase its business by 35 percent over the last four years.

However, how far can a team of 150 people go without the appropriate ammunition? SCR maintains a fleet of multi-service vehicles, offering 24-hour dispatching, utilizing wheelchair accessible minivans, 15-passenger vans, wheelchair assessable coaches and sedans.

Over the past 20 years, SCR has transported approximately 500, 000 clients per year and has emerged as one of the fastest growing transportation companies in the city of Chicago. Greeted with a caring smile, clients receive undivided attention and door to door service from our considerate drivers. Client safety and on-time performance are SCR’s primary concerns and we have excelled in both areas. During its 17 years of CTA Special Services, SCR has been first in on-time performance and the only carrier achieving over 95% in Service history!

-In 1996 SCR was awarded the Small Business of the Year Award by the Bank of America.

-SCR was featured in Crain’s Small Business Magazine, Indigo Newspaper, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Defender and many other community publications.

-SCR was also featured in Jet Magazine and on WLS TV’s, Minority Business Report.

-In 2004, Stanley and Pamela Rakestraw were awarded the Business of the Year Award by the Chatam Business Association.

-In 2004 Taxicab, Limousine Association (TLPA) proudly awarded SCR with the Operator of the Year Award.

-In 2005 TLPA recognized SCR’s driver Larry Lewis as the driver of the year!
